Rain Gardens

Rain gardens are a great way to make the most of the precipitation we receive in our semi-arid climate, and they can fit into road verges and medians as well as public parks and personal gardens!

Depending on the site, urban forestry design projects may incorporate various elements that help guide and filter stormwater, such as curb cuts, sediment traps, and lagunitas. Curb cuts allow stormwater to enter into the project area, and then a sediment trap allows street debris to accumulate below grade, allowing cleaner water to enter into the rain garden. Lagunitas help water infiltrate into the surrounding soil to support the health of plantings in the design.
